Core Services

The core services of general practice include the general management of acute and chronic medical conditions, health promotion, emergency care, appropriate referral and urgent care for temporary residents.

   

   

 

 

 

 

 

iPLATO PATIENT CARE MESSAGING

More than 700 GP surgeries, pharmacies and clinics use iPLATO Patient Care Messaging to offer quality mHealth services to their patients. Clerkenwell Medical Practice use iPLATO as an appointment reminder service, to convey test results and to recall patients for screening and for chronic disease management.

Additional Services

Child Health Clinic - Dr Joanne Athos - Aku Caesar: Health promotion for children under five including immunisations and development checks. This clinic is for well children only: Wednesday 1:30 – 3:00pm appointment on day


Maternity servicesMidwife: Domicilary service. Our midwife is part of the UCLH Midwifery team and will visit you at home.

UCH offers homebirth (for women within their boundaries), use of a birthing centre or Labour Ward. A birthing pool is also available.

Antenatal classes run on a monthly basis - 4 sessions on Monday evenings between 6pm and 8pm. Contact the Practice midwife for more details.

The Integrated Test offerred for Down's Syndrome screening for women booking before their 12th week of pregnancy is available.


The following services by appointment with our Practice Nurses;-

*     Contraception: Please book a routine appointment with a nurse. Ask reception for a same day appointment if you need "Emergency Contraception" or you may visit your Pharmacists for advice.

*      Cervical Smears: Cervical smears are offered to all women of appropriate age.

*      Vaccination & Travel Advice: All routine adult and child vaccinations, malaria prevention and travel vaccinations including yellow fever vaccination. Please ensure you make an appointment at least six weeks before your departure date. Please note that the provision of travel vaccines may be subject to a fee and some courses of immunisation take up to two months to complete. Please discuss this with one of our nurses.

*      Cystitis: Any non-pregnant adult female patients can have their cystitis or urinary tract infections treated by our practice nurses.


Mental Health Link Worker - Lana Renny: Referrals to see Lana are made through your GP or Practice Nurse. Lana offers guided self help for problems such as stress, low mood, anxiety and depression and Lana can also provide a linking service to other community organisations. Weekly clinics are held each Tuesday Morning and Thursday afternoon.

Clinical Psychologist - Isabella Foustanos : Referrals to see Isabella is through your GP or Practice Nurse. Isabella offers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for problems such as anxiety and depression and holds weekly clinics each Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning. Isabella joined the Practice in 2009 as part of the Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies Programme.

Alcohol Worker - Dawn Burton ; Dawn provides support for those whose drinking patterns may be having a detremental effect on their quality of life on Thursday afternoons.

 


 

 

 

 

 

Enhanced Services

Minor Surgery - Dr Bengi Beyzade:  Clerkenwell Medical Practice has been approved by Islington Primary Care Trust to provide Minor Surgical procedures for Islington residents: This service needs to be discussed in advance by booking an appointment with a doctor (Dr Bengi Beyzade).

Sexual Health - Nurse Laura Barrett: Confidential Sexual health advice and screening for Men & Women, We advise on HIV tests and counselling here at the practice. 

We carry out Chlamydia tests on both Men & Women with a confidential service for any age, we also have a self testing kits available (Only available for 25 years of age & under). We also offer advice on contraception. Book an appointment with Becky, Laura or Katherine, our practice nurses.

HIV Monitoring - Dr Peter Baines: Clerkenwell Medical Practice has been approved by Islington Primary Care Trust to provide shared care enhanced services for patients with HIV. This service will be in conjunction with the patients' named hospital.

Community Drug Clinic - Cathy Smith with Dr Nicol, Dr Beyzade & Dr Russell: Clerkenwell Medical Practice has been approved by Islington Primary Care Trust to provide shared care enhanced services for patients with drug problems. This includes a methadone prescribing service. The clinic operates on a friday afternoon.
