COPD

If you are 35 or over, a smoker, regularly feel breathless or have a persistent cough, you should make an appointment with one of our nurses to get lung function tests to be screened for COPD.

If you have COPD already, and have not been referred  for pulmonary rehabilitation, please make an appointment to do so. Pulmonary rehabilitation is a physiotherapy-led service which aims to control and improve the symptoms of COPD, and has greatly improved the quality of life of many patients.  Apart from giving up smoking, it is seen as the single most effective intervention, including medicines and inhalers, in the treatment of COPD.

Patients with COPD are offered an appointment for review every year with our nurses to check that they are on the correct medication and to update their management plan.
