We are lucky to have 3 teaching hospitals near to us that all offer a high-level of maternity care. It is your choice as to which hospital you would like to be referred to, but we normally refer pregnant women to the University College London Hospital as it is the nearest hospital for most women. This offers a large choice for delivery options including homebirths if suitable, use of the birthing centre which has a pool or delivering on the labour ward at the hospital. Midwives from UCLH will see you for your maternity appointments either at the hospital or at one of the health centres in the local area. We can also refer to the Whittington Hospital in Archway and the Royal Free Hospital in Belsize Park.
You can self-refer to the maternity service at UCLH, the Whittington and Royal Free Hospital by going onto the relevant website and completing the form. This can be posted, emailed or faxed to the hospital and they will then contact you to make your booking appointment. It is advised to try and do this as early as possible, to ensure they have enough time to give you the appropriate appointments. After you have referred yourself to one of the local hospitals, please can you book a routine appointment at our surgery, as it is important for your care that we see you and support you through your pregnancy as well.
